Ingredient!
1 (16 ounce) package of Rotini pasta
3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
1 pound minced meat
6 tomatoes, grated
1 sweet yellow onion, grated
1/2 cup of water
3 tablespoons tomato puree
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of white sugar
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
salt and ground black pepper to taste
4 cups grated Mizithra cheese
1 cup of torn mozzarella cheese
Preparation!
Bring a large pan of lightly salted water to the boil. Boil the Rotini until it feels soft, yet firm, and drain for about 8 minutes. Transfer to a large bowl and mix with 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat and stir in the ground beef until brown, about 10 minutes. Add tomatoes, onion, water, tomato puree, cinnamon, sugar, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper stir to combine. Let the meat sauce simmer over medium heat until the flavors taste for 20 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
Pour the meat sauce well over the rotini mix. Pour half of the pasta mixture into a frying pan and sprinkle with half the Mizithra cheese and half the mozzarella. Sprinkle with the remaining dough mixture and sprinkle the remaining Mizithra cheese and mozzarella cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven until the cheese is melted and bubbling, about 40 minutes.b
