2cups white sugar
1cup water
1 / 2lemon, juice strained
pink food coloring, few drops
1 / 3cup rose water
Preparation!
Put sugar and water in a saucepan and stir over medium heat until dissolved.
Bring to a boil and add lemon juice.
Cook without stirring for 10 minutes, foam if necessary.
Add dye to the syrup to obtain a deep pink – it becomes lighter when diluted later.
Add rose water and cook 3 minutes longer. Remove from heat, cool, bottle and seal.
To serve, put 2-3 tbs of syrup or flavor in a glass, then fill with ice water.
